50/50 - Coming to Terms with Death.

Jonathan Levine's 2011 film 50/50, tells the true story of a young man called Adam, and his progress through the life shattering news that he has a 50/50 chance of living out the rest of his life, due to cancer that has developed on his spine.

Levine is able to show the transformation of Adam's journey, through a comedy film, yet still representing the harsh and realistic concept that mortality is an experience everyone will eventually face, and how each person handles it differently.

We plan to take some of these concepts of realism and how a person may react to the daunting news that they are not long for this world.

NERVE Nerve (2016) is an American techno-thriller adventure film directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, written and produced by Jessica Sharzer, based on the 2012 noel of the same name by Jeanne Ryan. Mixing colour Temperatures The use of different colour temperatures in film can have endless great effects on a shot. Each light source, regardless of source, contains colour, and depending on a camera’s effectiveness with white balance, that colour can be revealed. Those colours can be used as subtle emotional and narrative cues to drive a story. The colour of light chosen, will have an emotional impact on the viewer. An audience will most often relate blue light as cooler and sad, while yellow/orange light tends to imply heat, vibrancy and even happiness. Mixing these colour temperatures can be a great way to manipulate these psychological effects and add complexity to a shot. While the subject’s skin tones should primarily stay a single colour, adding a contrast emotion can build a sense of dimension and emotion to a shot.
